In Meransen, the day begins with a thrilling downhill ride or a walk in the snow. Winter hiking across the white snowy blanket one really appreciates the magical silence that envelops the mountains in winter. The perfectly maintained trails lead to the most stunning spots or to the mountain huts such as the Bacherhüte mountain hut, the Großberghütte hut or Kiener Alm pasture where one can stop for a break and a bite to eat. Many of these traditional mountain huts remain open in winter and welcome visitors with a steaming mug of punch and a choice of sumptuous South Tyrolean platters.
