On the path of Alpine cuisine
from June 2 to July 15, 2012
Good food is one of life's pleasures. Valle Isarco/Eisacktal Valley attracts guests who love good food with this philosophy. Here, visitors will find places and local people ready to offer their knowledge of the traditional dishes related to their land. Guided tours and visits with stops and tastings are the best way to learn about this extraordinary world: come see, touch and taste many of the South Tyrolean apple recipes, discover the spirit of the wine producers who are busy working to better their wines and experience the farmers' cuisine which has long crossed the threshold of haute cuisine.
The food and wine packages and the special “On the path of Alpine cuisine” active program offer an insight into the wealth of the region, including mining and monasteries.
Valle Isarco and its many traditional flavors await you: come and discover them.

Alpine hut festival "Fane Alm" in Vals

On the 29th of July, the village of Fane Alm in Valles becomes the venue for the traditional Fane Festival and Alpine Hut Festival. For more than 20 years, visitors have come to these high altitude Alpine meadows to celebrate. The festival begins with the traditional Outdoor Morning Mass at 10am. Lunch follows the mass where the huts in Fane Alm offer their best local dishes to visitor’s who should have already worked up an appetite from the fragrant high altitude air. Traditional roasted lamb or venison, a great variety of dumpling types and local pasta varieties as well as popular regional sweets and pastries demonstrates the traditional Alpine-Mediterranean cuisine of South Tyrol.
Traditional folk groups and entertainment groups some using archaic traditions such as “whipcracking” will perform with musicians from Valles and its surrounding area in the afternoon, followed by bands in the evening.
